Iron Chef America produced by Food Network, an American cooking show which is based on Fuji Television’s Iron Chef had a specially exciting cooking competition with the cooperation of White House’s head chef and three top world chefs to celebrate sustainable cooking this weekend. A challenger chef compete with one of the resident “Iron Chefs” by cooking a least five dishes based on theme ingredients in one hour.


Sustainable cooking focuses on local products especially ones which are grown in your own garden. And certainly in this case, sustainable cooking was produce from the White House garden.


Michelle Obama met Alton Brown, Mario Batali, Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse and the White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford outside the White House. They are sharing the video recording of Mrs Obama with local school children working in the garden. Some audience will be surprised by learning this unique White House garden grown there since WWII.


Noticeably, guests of the Presidents can enjoy foods in the current the White House garden which also support a local food bank hundreds of pounds of produce. In addition, a remarkable $ 25,000 prize was given to the preferred donation of the winner. Unusually, the judges at the competition are Natalie Coughlin, an American swimmer representing the United States at the 2004 and the 2008 Olympics and Nigella Lawson, a cookbook author with simple and stress free approach to cooking.


Booby Flay and Christeta Comerford won the prizes partly because of their successful presentation for complex dishes and strange ingredients. Before taking home the win, Booby Flay requested the first lady to name the one essential vegetable.
